North Georgia Mountains in the News:
Project Chimps provides lifelong care to former research chimpanzees at a 236-acre forested sanctuary in Morganton, about 15 minutes from Blue Ridge. This facility provides a way for these chimpanzees to get out of the lab and into a more natural habitat. There are currently 59 chimpanzees living at the Project Chimps sanctuary, but eventually they expect to house over 200 chimpanzees coming from private research facilities.
